Star's son all shook up by Elvis attack

AN ELVIS Presley impersonator has admitted attacking the son of the late singer's guitarist at a tribute act convention, court officials have said.

Michael Cawthray pleaded guilty to one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm during a brief hearing at Warwick Crown Court in Leamington Spa yesterday.

Jeff Burton, the son of guitarist James Burton, is alleged to have been punched and kicked by Cawthray following January's European Elvis Championships at Birmingham's Hilton Metropole Hotel.

West Midlands Police said Burton, 48, was treated at the city's Heartlands Hospital for a broken cheekbone, a broken nose and cuts to his head.

A police spokesman said officers were called to the lobby of the hotel, near to the National Exhibition Centre, at 4:25am on 9 January.

Cawthray, 43, of Rhos-on-Sea, north Wales, will be sentenced next month.
