Star guests pick line-up for film fest

GUEST curators will choose the "majority" of the line-up for this year's Edinburgh International Film Festival, organisers have revealed.

Actress Isabella Rossellini, author Alan Warner and directors Gus Van Sant and Jim Jarmusch and have all agreed to help programme the event in its 65th year.

The bulk of events in the programme will be selected by no less than 14 luminaries from the worlds of film, music and literature, eight of whom were unveiled yesterday.

Fewer premieres are to be screened this year as part of cost-cutting enforced in the wake of the event losing funding after the scrapping of the UK Film Council and the loss of sponsorship from Standard Life.

Other guest curators will include rapper Mike Skinner and pop singer-turned film composer Clint Mansell.
