Stand-ups' fundraising is best bar none

TOP Festival comedians are giving up their Sunday afternoons to raise money for a leading HIV charity.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender venue, the New Town Bar, is hosting the likes of Jo Caulfield, Jojo Sutherland, Susan Calman and Ava Vidal who have offered to donate their talents to raise funds for Waverley Care. The events, which run throughout the month, are hosted by Scottish comedian Scott Agnew.

Edinburgh Gay Men's Chorus, London Gay Men's Chorus and indie band Six Storeys High, are amongst the musicians also providing entertainment in return for donations.

Alan Emerson, manager of the New Town Bar, said: "We have the best of the Fringe battling to get a spot to raise their profiles at the same time as valuable cash for Waverley Care.

"Despite the hard times, charity does matter and these performers are doing all they can. We thank everyone giving up their time and talent this year."

David Johnson, director of Waverley Care said: "This is the third year that the New Town Bar has organised their Sunday FUNdraisers in support of Waverley Care."
