Staff's 'delight' as bridge tours fully booked

OPERATORS of the Forth Road Bridge have stopped taking bookings for guided tours of the structure after being inundated with requests.

A total of 624 tours have been reserved since details were announced at the end of March, including an extra 104 places made available in response to overwhelming demand.

Barry Colford, chief engineer and bridgemaster, said: "We're delighted at this response.

"It shows the level of interest in the Forth Road Bridge and the important work we're doing here. The staff are passionate about the structure and are really looking forward to welcoming the public."

The tours, which take place from June 13-18, will form part of the Forth Road Bridge's second open week, which will also include an exhibition about the bridge and special events.
