Staff scale heights for cancer care

A TEAM of supermarket workers have scaled Ben Nevis, raising £3000 for breast cancer charities.

The budding mountaineers from Asda’s store at the Jewel completed the 4500ft climb in just over eight hours led by security manager Walter Halliday, who doubles as a personal fitness trainer.

General store manager Callum Nicholson said: “We wanted to do something which would challenge us as well as raise money for a good cause. As the highest mountain in Britain, not just Scotland, we knew it would be tough, but it was great to have the support of the rest of the team to keep us going.

“A few people have sore feet and legs today but raising over £3000 for such a good cause has made it all worthwhile.

“I’d also like to say a huge thank you to the whole team not just for making it it to the top and back down in one piece but also for all their fundraising efforts.”

The money raised will be ploughed into the super-
market giant’s annual Tickled Pink project.
