Staff roll out for charity tour

STAFF at the Scotch Whisky Association head office in Edinburgh are to cycle to all Scotland’s 108 distilleries to mark the organisation’s centenary and raise money for charity.

They have divided themselves into teams to pedal across the country, covering well over 1000 miles, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support in Scotland and WaterAid, which works in some of the world’s poorest communities.

Scotch whisky producers are supporting the charitable efforts by donating cash to the two charities and providing bottles of whisky for auctioning later this year.

Rosemary Gallagher, SWA communications manager, said: “This is a very special year for the association. As employees we were keen to take on a challenge which would raise money for two very worthwhile causes.

“Cycling to all 108 distilleries will hopefully increase the profile of the charities while allowing staff a chance to get out and about and meet people across the industry.”
