SSPCA appeal after Persian cat found abandoned

THE Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a Persian cat in poor condition was abandoned outside a Perth gym.

Members of the leading animal welfare charity rescued the grey female cat last Thursday night following the discovery outside a fitness centre in the city’s Canal Street.

An SSPCA spokeswoman explained: “She was left on the pavement inside a cat igloo, along with sachets of food. Now named Kitty, the six year old cat is recovering at the SSPCA’s Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.”

Debbie Innes, the centre’s assistant manager said: “Sadly, it seems Kitty was deliberately abandoned outside the gym. She had matted fur, overgrown claws and was generally in poor condition when she was found, so our inspector immediately took her to a vet.

“Kitty has a suspected cyst on her right eye and she’s currently on medication for an ear infection, but otherwise is doing well.”

Ms Innes added: “She’s a friendly, affectionate girl and once she has made a full recovery we’ll be looking to find her a loving new home.”
