Square draws the crowds

A £130 MILLION extension to one of the Lothians' biggest shopping centres helped to attract an extra three million visitors last year.

Elements Square, the extension to The Centre in Livingston, which opened in October 2008, helped attract more than 12 million shoppers during 2009.

Alison Niven, director at The Centre, said: "We expected the new extension to increase footfall, but attracting over 12 million shoppers was well ahead of expectations."

The Centre boasts 155 shops.
