Spring in the changes by taking bike

MORE than 150 pupils and parents are set to cycle to Pentland Primary as part of "spring your bike to school day".

The Easter-themed cycle fun day will see pupils decorating their helmets and taking part in mini bike races.

The event, on Thursday, has been organised by cycling charity Sustrans to encourage more people to cycle to school now that spring has arrived.

Headteacher Carolyn McGinaly said: "Not only has the 'spring your bike to school day' been lots of fun for the pupils, we also hope that this event will continue to promote cycling to school in general.

"Cycling will encourage a healthier lifestyle, improve children's fitness and help to cut our carbon footprint."

Sustrans bike officer, Lynn Stocks added: "Pentland Primary have been a great school to work with and always very supportive of encouraging more active travel to school."
