Sports stars' Games praise

A SPORTING quartet from East Lothian limbering up for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi have been lauded by the council leader.

The talented foursome, consisting of boxer Josh Taylor, badminton ace Paul van Rietvelde, swimmer Emma Taylor and veteran bowls legend Willie Wood, are due to compete in the prestigious event next month.

Council leader Paul McLennan said the sports stars would be role models for younger athletes in the county.

"I am delighted to be able to pass on the many messages of support for the four athletes from both sports clubs and individuals in East Lothian," he said. "It is an amazing achievement to be selected to compete for your country at the highest level of your chosen sport and I wish them all well."
