The artwork, created by Nial Smith – shows the Scot in the same rugged attire as Paul Hogan, who played Mick Dundee in the 1986 Australian comedy. Murray is painted clutching a tennis racket with one arm around his girlfriend, Kim Sears.
The accompanying slogan says: “Andy Murray is Crocodile Dunblane. He’s here for your trophy … and your Sheilas.” It adds: “with brief cameo appearances for Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Bernard Tomic.”
And Murray saw the funny side of the poster.
“Not sure who’s put this together, made me laugh though,” he wrote on Facebook.
His mother, Judy, thought it hilarious. She tweeted “Check this out. Crocodile Dunblane… and his Sheila. Fabulous.”
Mr Smith was delighted: “Thanks for tweeting Croc Dunblane, Judy. You’ve helped me go viral.”
She replied: “Haha that’s wonderful. Its a fab pic. My twitters never had so many replies to a tweet. Ever.”
