‘Split personality’ man raped teenager, court told

A MAN who claimed to have been taken over by his “split personality” raped a teenager and made her mother watch, a court has heard.

Reece Fleming, 21, made repeated references to the Bible and demons during the attack, and told the woman: “You’re going to be a granny soon.”

He said to detectives initially that he had not raped the 18-year-old but that “David”, his split personality, appeared after he had been drinking. Later, however, he confessed and stated: “I’m not happy that I raped her...I need an alcohol counsellor. I’m the worst person in the world.”

The High Court in Edinburgh heard that the victim had forgiven him.

Fleming, of Kirkliston, near Edinburgh, admitted assaulting the teenager and her mother, 53, and presenting a knife at them in a house in the city on 28 November, and raping the daughter in the mother’s presence. He was remanded in custody for psychological and background reports, and will be sentenced next month.

The advocate-depute, David Nicolson, said Fleming had consumed about 14 bottles of beer thoughout the day and began saying: “I’m David. Reece isn’t coming back.” His tone was “calm but evil.”

He threatened to stab the mother and daughter, and repeatedly told them he would kill them. He asked the mother if she knew how to get rid of demons.

Fleming made the teenager strip and forced her to perform a sex act on him. He raped her and repeatedly ordered the mother to watch.
