Spirits soar after sales

The Scotch Whisky Experience has enjoyed soaring highest sales figures over the past week, selling £42,570 worth of goods in just seven days.

With the international draw of both the Olympics and Edinburgh’s Festivals, the five-star visitor attraction sold 37 rare and premium bottles.

The figure was helped by the sales of the Highland Park 50-year-old and the Ardbeg Double Barrel, which are two of the rarest whiskies in the world, each priced at £10,000.

Keith Mackay, retail manager at The Scotch Whisky Experience, said: “For half a dozen of these bottles to be sold would be special, but for 37 to disappear off the shelves is truly astonishing.”
