Sparring spud chefs make it on to competition shortlist

TWO keen cooks from the Lothians have been shortlisted in a nationwide competition to find Britain's best potato recipe.

Keith Kemp, 48, who lives in Bonnyrigg, and Fiona Sutherland, 56, from Ratho, are among 25 people to be shortlisted in the Master Spud competition.

Five people from across the UK will proceed to the final, which will see them star in a national TV advert with celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli. During the advert, the winner will be crowned Master Spud 2011.

Fiona said: "The best thing about potatoes is that they don't take very long to cook and they go with just about everything."

Keith added: "I would absolutely love to cook my recipe on TV and it would be wonderful if people could take a few moments to vote for me."
