Chief 'victim of jealousy'

THE Edinburgh Zoo boss who has been suspended while anonymous allegations against him are investigated today claimed he is the victim of jealousy.

It was reported today that Gary Wilson, acting chief executive, is being investigated over alleged financial irregularities.

But the 47-year-old, from Dunblane, said the accusations were "nonsense" and vowed to clear his name.

He said: "I'm the victim of a smear campaign from people who are jealous of the position I hold. I know who made the allegations and they're complete nonsense. I've met with bosses and put my side of the story across."

He said he had not been told what all the allegations were.
