SNP seals historic by-election victory

The SNP has secured an historic by-election win in Aberdeen to become the largest single group on the city council for the first time.

The party's candidate, Neil MacGregor, raced to victory in Dyce, Bucksburn and Danestone, polling more votes than the four other candidates combined. The SNP now has 14 councillors - one more than their Lib Dem coalition partners.
