SNP conference: Diary- A whiff of possible cuts

PEOPLE in Moray may already think the government's cuts stink, but it could get worse as the council is considering asking them to clean public toilets.

In an attempt to slash millions of pounds from its budget, Moray Council is considering a range of cutbacks, including shutting swimming pools, community centres and reducing spending on road maintenance.

Though not part of a draft budget, the council has said there a number of potential money-saving options on which the administration wanted to test public opinion.

The alternative to having the community clean the public toilet is to shut them altogether.

Council staff will receive full details of the options later this month.
