Snow chaos: How you're affected

SCHOOLS

Some primary schools have reopened and fourth to sixth-year pupils at all secondary schools should attend, except at Queensferry High School, which is closed. Broughton, Sciennes and Bruntsfield primaries will reopen; Craigentinny, Gylemuir and James Gillespie's Primary Schools are open but their nurseries are closed. The Cowgate, Calderglen, and Tynecastle nurseries were also due to reopen.

All special schools remain closed with the exception of the Panmure St Ann's service.

ROADS

All "category one" and some "category two" priority routes were treated yesterday. The city council says staff are working round the clock to keep the main roads clear.

The council has used 1802 tonnes of salt since last Thursday. Supplies stand at 5374 tonnes.

WASTE COLLECTION

Bin lorries have been unable to go out. However, refuse workers have been helping with snow clearing. Any bins not collected will be picked up as soon as possible.

WEATHER FORECAST

Some more snow is expected but should be less than in recent days. However, temperatures are set to drop significantly, with widespread frost and ice.
