Sniffing out dope farmers

NEIGHBOURS called police about mini cannabis farms because they couldn't stand the smell, a court heard.

Police found mature plants worth several hundred pounds when they raided two houses in West Lothian.

Julia McLaren, prosecuting, said neighbours had called police on both occasions because they were disturbed by the strong smell of the plants.

The DIY dope growers were each fined 100 yesterday after they pleaded guilty to growing it for their personal use.

Kevin Kerr, 26, of Harthill, pleaded guilty at Livingston Sheriff Court to producing cannabis at a house in Leyland Road, Bathgate, on January 13 this year. In a separate case David Ross, 28, admitted by letter to producing the drug at his home in Mayfield Court, Armadale, on November 24, 2010.
