Smoking out risks to kids

THE Scottish Government has been urged by a city charity to continue its offensive on smoking by addressing the issue of protecting children from second-hand fumes.

ASH Scotland, the anti-tobacco lobbying group, said the problem was particularly bad in the city's poorer areas.

It wants education and legislation to play a key role in rectifying it.

Chief executive Sheila Duffy said: "The challenge ahead is translating the knowledge that there is an impact on our health and the health of children into showing people how they could change their behaviour, in particular to protect children."
