Smoke from fire still spreading

RESIDENTS living near the site of a major fire were yesterday told to keep their windows closed as smoke continued to spread across the area.

Lothian and Borders Police said that the Brucefield Industrial Estate in Livingston had reopened following a fire at a printing factory.

Two properties adjacent to the factory remained closed and police continued to maintain a presence at the scene yesterday after the fire on Thursday.

The force said: "Smoke from the fire continues to linger in the air and Muireston residents are still asked to keep windows closed."

Some 70 firefighters tackled the blaze at the Amcor Flexibles plant, which forced the closure of several roads and a nearby Edinburgh to Glasgow rail route.
