Sleet and snow tumbles again across region

THE city's snowploughs were on standby again this morning after sleet and snow fell in the early hours.

While the snow was expected to clear throughout today, the Met Office is predicting that up to 5cm of snow could fall at low levels in the Lothians tomorrow. Up to 12cm could fall over the hills.

The Met Office has issued an advisory predicting a 60 per cent chance of severe weather tomorrow.

This evening and tonight the weather will remain dry, with long clear periods and light winds, with a minimum temperature of -6C.
