Skipper celebrates anniversary sailing

THE country's only ferry crossing to Europe set sail for the Continent yesterday on the anniversary of its maiden voyage.

At the helm of the Scottish Viking was a very special captain who missed out on the ship's debut journey from Zeebrugge, Belgium, to the Port of Rosyth in Fife after falling seriously ill before launch day. Captain Antonio Arbilli suffered a heart attack shortly before the first crossing last May. So when ferry operator Norfolkline was deciding how to celebrate the landmark anniversary, Captain Arbilli was handed the starring role he was denied last year.
