Skip hire boss burned waste

A SKIP hire boss has been given 160 hours of community service for illegally burning waste.

James Cunningham, 42, from Penicuik, had previously admitted the offence, which took place at Clippens Yards in Loanhead, Midlothian.

Michael Smith, environmental agency SEPA’s investigating officer, said: “Mr Cunningham appeared to be attempting to gain a commercial advantage over other companies engaged in waste management activities by avoiding financial costs.”
