SKFF call in lawyers to check appeal

THE charity in control of the beleaguered £15 million New Pyjamas campaign has brought in lawyers to investigate the appeal.

The Sick Kids Friends Foundation confirmed it had appointed a legal firm after New Pyjamas director Elaine McGonigle was suspended and chairman Graeme Millar stood down.

Trustees said the organisation was hired to thoroughly investigate the running of the appeal over the past 18 months, which has brought in only 60,000 despite spending 500,000.

Chairman of the board of trustees David Reith told members in a letter: "I can advise that the trustees have initiated immediate dialogue with OSCR – the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator – and will continue to share information freely with them."

The letter added: "In addition, we have also instructed a leading independent law firm, experienced in charity law and practice, to investigate fully the running of the New Pyjamas campaign and provide us with a detailed report."
