Six saved from blaze in flats
SIX people had to be rescued after a fire broke out in the stairwell of a block of flats.
Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service were called to Hardgate Court, in Haddington, East Lothian, shortly after 2am yesterday.
A bag of rubbish was "well alight" on the second floor of the four-storey building, with residents trapped upstairs.

Hide AdA spokeswoman for the service said two women and four men were brought to safety from a top floor flat, before crews extinguished the blaze.
She said: "One of the men was suffering from smoke inhalation and he was given oxygen at the scene."
