Six charged in wake of drugs raids

SIX men have been arrested and charged with drug offences after police seized diazepam and cannabis worth £127,000 in a series of searches across the Capital.

The largest recovery made during Tuesday's blitz came when officers searched a vehicle at a petrol station in Murrayburn Road in the west of Edinburgh.

Diazepam with an estimated street value of 100,000 was discovered within the vehicle, and two men, aged 35 and 37, were arrested and charged. Both were set to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday.

In addition, officers who searched a property in Millar Place in Morningside discovered a cannabis cultivation with an estimated street value of approximately 26,000.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the discovery.

A further three men were arrested and charged in connection with three smaller recoveries of cannabis, at properties in Pennywell Medway in Muirhouse, and one in Nisbet Court in Restalrig. Two of the men, aged 29 and 41, are set to appear at court at a later date, while the third man, aged 27, was set to appear yesterday.
