Sisters are doing it for others

Vicky and Abbie Garrington have been told they have very similar personalities and nice qualities which research suggests could be influenced by their matching genes.

The identical twins are hard-working types, who are also no strangers to carrying out charitable acts.

Vicky, a curator for Edinburgh Museums and Galleries, said: "People think me and my sister have very similar personalities, and interact with people in a similar way. We are chatty and treat other people in a way that you expect them to be nice until they prove otherwise, rather than being suspicious people."

The 32-year-old said she and her sister, a lecturer in English literature at Newcastle University, were also both quite hard-working.

"We both set ourselves goals quite a lot and I suppose we are a bit goody-two-shoes and pretty hard workers."
