Sir Sean is on fairway to golf heaven

SCOTLAND'S most famous golf fan teed off a major new exhibition in Edinburgh yesterday, ahead of the Open Championship later this month.

Sir Sean Connery was among the first to view a collection of unique golfing artefacts from Scotland.

Curators at the city's National Library of Scotland exhibition have collated more than 200 items to mark the 150th anniversary of the Open in St Andrews.

Among the rarest exhibits is the 1457 Act of Parliament banning golf and the earliest known rules of the game dating from 1744.
