Sir David Attenborough's in flap over bird technology

SIR David Attenborough was taking a close look at some of the technology at the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick used to monitor bird life on the nearby Bass Rock.

Sir David visited the East Lothian centre last week, as part of a lifelong ambition to see the spectacular gannet colony on the Bass Rock - which he has described as a wonder of the natural world that is "perfection" - first hand.

Seabird Centre staff were more than happy to show the 84-year-old naturalist around ahead of a trip out to the Bass Rock.
