Sir Chris Hoy’s son Callum gets tour of Edinburgh

Sir Chris, who won seven Olympics medals including six golds, grew up in Edinburgh but splits his time between the capital and Manchester.

The 39-year-old posted a series of photos on Twitter showing wife Sarra, a lawyer, with Callum, who is nearly nine months old.

Callum was born 11 weeks early in October 2014, with Sir Chris tweeting: “Amazed, delighted & a little shocked to announce the birth of our beautiful baby son, Callum David Robert Hoy! Born at 29weeks, today at 2pm.”

The Hoys had announced that they were expecting their first child in June last year.

And in November, the Olympic cycling legend spoke about being a father.

He said: “There’s nothing like that moment when you hold your baby for the first time and it’s a pretty stressful situation for it to happen in but you’re just trying to appreciate that moment.

“But because we didn’t know if it was going to be a boy or a girl, just finding out it’s a baby boy as well, it’s incredible.

“It’s a wonderful, wonderful feeling when you hold your baby boy in your arms.”

And Sarra, who wrote a blog that was picked up by the Scottish Book Trust as part of their Journeys campaign, added: “When you come away from the hospital and have your child at home, you think the journey’s over but it’s not.

“You’re at home with a very small vulnerable baby and now it’s up to you, but you’re constantly thinking about the trauma that you’ve gone through.

“Seeing my experience written down made me feel better and the process of sharing it and having people respond has been quite amazing. It’s reassuring when you realise your feelings aren’t remarkable.”
