Simple Minds star finds new passion with Lostboy shows

SCOTS music legend Jim Kerr is to play an intimate gig at Liquid Room next month.

The Simple Minds frontman will be in town under his new musical alter ego, Lostboy! Aka Jim Kerr.

Kerr, who played to thousands of Simple Minds fans at Edinburgh Castle's Esplanade in July 2009, describes his latest work as being all about big melodic themes, turbo-charged rhythms and guitars that shine.

"Unbelievably I seemed to have reconnected with the spirit of the kid I was when I first started to make rock music," he said.

"As if I had come face to face with the lost boy that I had left behind.

"I wanted to make music that reflected the rediscovery of the energy with which I had reconnected.

"I am delighted with the result and convinced that Lostboy! AKA is something special that will grow quickly over the next years in parallel with the ongoing great story of Simple Minds."

The Glasgow-born singer released his first solo album in May under his new moniker, and is set to play tracks from the album at the gig, as well as digging into Simple Minds' back catalogue.

The gig will take place on Wednesday, November 24. Tickets are on sale now.
