Silvio Berlusconi and son in fresh rights row

Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi and his elder son, Pier Silvio, have been summoned to meet with prosecutors in Rome later this month in a probe of film rights acquisitions by his media company, it was reported yesterday.

His lawyer, Niccolo Ghedini, claimed the probe practically duplicated one begun against the pair this year by Milan prosecutors, insisting the deal followed tax laws.
