Sikh wedding plan goes up in smoke

A SIKH wedding was yesterday interrupted after three fire engines arrived ready to tackle a blaze.

Nearly 50 individuals were rushed out of the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Leith after someone thought they saw smoke coming from the back of the temple. But the drama was quickly extinguished as the fire crew returned from the back in less than a minute.

A Lothian and Borders Fire Service spokeswoman said: “We were called to an incident where smoke was spotted from the back of the temple. It turned out to be a false alarm as fire crews found that there was only steam coming from the outlet of a boiler.”
