Sick Kids patients head to teenage cancer conference

A GROUP of 20 teenage cancer patients from the Sick Kids Hospital have taken part in the Teenage Cancer Trust's national Find Your Sense of Tumour conference in Nottingham.

The Sick Kids Friends Foundation organised the visit to the four-day event for a team of the hospital's 14 to 18-year-old patients currently undergoing treatment for cancer.

The conference, which is in its seventh year, is an annual get-together for teenagers throughout the UK and Europe who have, or have had, cancer.

The event now attracts more than 350 young people, giving them the chance to socialise and take part in activities from relaxing therapies and yoga to makeovers and music workshops.

Shannon Mckenzie, one of the teenagers from Edinburgh who attended the conference, said: "Going to the sense of tumour conference and getting away for a few days was fantastic.

"It was really fun getting the chance to mix with other teenagers."
