Sick Chavez vows to run in next election

VENEZUELAN president Hugo Chavez has said he is certain he will pursue his re-election bid next year, even as he struggles to overcome cancer.

In an interview published yesterday in the government newspaper Correo del Orinoco, Mr Chavez said that if there were physical reasons to step down he would, but that he is pursuing his candidacy "with more strength than before".
