Shoplifters are bagged

SHOPLIFTING in Edinburgh fell by 15 per cent during the past three months, new figures revealed today.

Reported thefts from stores between April and June stood at 902, compared with 1067 for the same three months last year.

A total of 75 per cent of the latest shoplifting incidents were solved by police.

Meanwhile, cases of theft in the Capital also decreased.

Police recorded 1646 thefts in the city between April and June against 1745 last year, a fall of six per cent.
