Shopkeeper hurt by raider

Police are investigating after a city shopkeeper was attacked by a man who stole cash from the till.

The robbery happened at Assars Grocers in Boswall Parkway in Pilton at about 7pm on Sunday.

The victim was left with a minor head injury and police said he was shaken by the incident.

The suspect is described as being aged between 25 and 30, about 6ft and thin, with a pale complexion. He wore a dark coloured top with the hood up and dark trousers.

Officers are appealing for witnesses.

In a separate incident, police are hunting an armed robber who held up two female members of staff at Coral bookmakers on Main Street in Fauldhouse, West Lothian, at around 8pm on Friday before making off with more than £100.
