Ships come in for top hotels

Coach loads of European travellers arriving by sea are giving hotels in Edinburgh an unexpected boost, according to new figures from cruise ferry operator DFDS Seaways.

The Travelodge hotel in Edinburgh's West End is one of the hotels to witness a surge in business as a result of Scotland's popularity with ferry passengers.

According to DFDS Seaways passenger statistics, Edinburgh West End Travelodge is one of the top five most popular hotels with Dutch and German passengers travelling on the Amsterdam-Newcastle route to Scotland. Last year, over 900 passengers stayed at the hotel.
