Shetland Islands' chief exec on loan

SHETLAND Islands Council yesterday announced plans to offer the post of interim chief executive to the head of neighbouring Orkney Islands Council.

The Shetland local authority has been without a chief executive since February, when David Clark left after a controversial eight-month spell in office.

A spokeswoman for SIC said yesterday: "A special meeting of Shetland Islands Council has agreed to offer the position of interim chief executive to Alistair Buchan, chief executive of Orkney Islands Council."
