Sheriff resigns over drink-driving charge

A SHERIFF has stood down after it emerged he has been charged with drink driving.

Robert Anthony QC, who presided in Glasgow Sheriff Court, was charged by police in Livingston on 30 September. He will now appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on 22 October.

A Judicial Office spokeswoman said: "Robert Anthony QC was charged under section five of the Road Traffic Act 1988. He has resigned with immediate effect."
