Shedding light on the master

A LECTURE on Danish painter Christen Købke will be held at the National Gallery of Scotland as part of a new exhibition of his work.

It will be the first time that the work of Kbke, known as the Danish Master of Light, has been shown outside his homeland.

David Jackson, guest curator of the exhibition, which includes the portrait of sculptor Hermann Ernst Freund, pictured, will give an overview of the 19th century artist's life.

The free talk will be held this afternoon at 2pm, and the exhibition will run from 4 July-3 October.
