Sharp rise in 'snip' figures

THE number of Lothians men opting to have surgery to make future fatherhood impossible has soared in the past year.

Statistics have revealed that around 0.4 per cent of males aged up to 59 had a vasectomy in the past year, compared with only 0.28 per cent the previous year.

That figure coincided with a drop in women choosing to have an abortion.

However, there remains concern about the rate of women having a termination who have already had one in the past.
