Sexual assault in city park

Police said the woman was running past tennis courts in the Meadows area of Edinburgh on Tuesday night when a man grabbed her and forced her to the ground.

He sexually assaulted her before she managed to fight him off. He then fled along a path towards Buccleuch Street.

The attack happened between 6:50pm and 7pm.

It comes a week after two men sexually assaulted a woman in the same area.

Lothian and Borders Police said nothing suggested the incidents were linked, although officers were “keeping an open mind”.

Police said the attacker was about 30, 5ft 10in tall, dark-skinned and clean-shaven.
