Sex workers' scheme award

A HEALTH initiative to reach out to Lothians prostitutes has been recognised with a prestigious award.

Harm reduction nurses launched the scheme five years ago after noticing there was a "gap" in services for sex workers who may also be drug addicts.

As a result they decided to create a "one stop shop" for sexual health services, giving sex workers better access to vital information.

The project came runner up at the British Journal of Nursing Awards for best women's health service.
