Sex offender has his appeal rejected

A SEX offender who groomed a schoolgirl in an attempt to let him belt her had a bid to have his two-year jail sentence cut rejected by appeal judges yesterday.

Gerald Niven, 37, of Dundee, contacted the 14-year-old girl through the social networking site Bebo and offered her £250 to meet him so he could “give her pain”. The girl rejected his advances and contacted the police, who arrested Niven.
