A SERIAL sex attacker caught because his twin's DNA was on a police database is to be monitored for life.

Kevan McDonald raped a 17 year-old schoolgirl and a 33-year-old woman in Paisley and Renfrewshire.

The married 35-year-old appeared at the High Court in Glasgow back in November 2009 to admit to the rapes and two charges of assault with intent to rape.

The case was repeatedly adjourned for the preparation of reports and the outcome of a controversial legal challenge on how long life prisoners should spend behind bars.

Judge Lord Turnbull yesterday finally sentenced McDonald and made him the subject of an order for lifelong restriction.

He was also jailed for a minimum of six years and four months - but the term was back-dated to June 2009 when he first appeared in the dock.
