Sex attack on teenager in town park

AN 18-YEAR-OLD woman was indecently assaulted as she made her way home after visiting a nightclub yesterday.

The teenager had been at the Pulse nightclub in Airdrie town centre and was walking home through Central Park at about 2.20am when a man approached her from behind.

He then assaulted her before running off in an unknown direction.

He was described as being 5ft 7in with short, fair hair.

The man was wearing a white jumper and dark-coloured trousers.

The woman was uninjured but left extremely shaken as a result of her ordeal, police said.

Det Insp John Jack appealed for anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward.

"Officers are currently studying CCTV in an effort to glean further information on this attack," he said.

"Any information, no matter how trivial, could prove vital in catching the man responsible for this frightening attack."
