Several killed as lightening strikes

Seven people from neighbouring families have been killed in a lightning strike in South Africa.

A police spokesman said the victims were members of two families in adjacent homes.

The dead included four children. One other family member remain in a critical condition following the Sunday afternoon storm in Eshowe, in the KwaZulu-Natal province.

In neighbouring Eastern Cape province, four people were killed and 20 injured in a New Year's Day lightning strike.
