Seven taken to hospital after road collision

SEVEN people were taken to hospital following a two-car collision in Invernesshire.

The incident occurred on the A862 near Bunchrew late yesterday afternoon when a Skoda Octavia and a Vauxhall Astra collided with one of the vehicles bursting into flames after its occupants had escaped.

One male passenger had to be cut from the wreckage by fire crews.

Four adults and three children were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment.

Police said none of the injuries was thought to be life-threatening.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said: "On arrival of the emergency services one vehicle was found to be on fire and was extinguished by Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue.

"One person had to cut free from the other vehicle by the fire service."
